Romano Artioli: a working life
Romano Artioli is an Italian entrepreneur and has been involved in the automotive business for more than 5 decades as a car manufacturer, distributor and retailer. He has represented and developed markets for a variety of car makes, including Grand Prix winners from three countries, and is probably best known for working with Enzo Ferrari as major distributor for over 20 years, the revival of the Bugatti brand and the turn around of Lotus, conceiving and producing the Lotus Elise.
A long time proponent of vehicle safety, emissions reduction and alternative fuel application, since the late „90s as owner and Chairman of Centre de Recherche en Machines Thermiques, Artioli has focused on the research and development of alternative hybrid, natural gas and electric engine propulsion and whole vehicle solutions.
Artioli was born in Moglia (Mantua) in 1932 and, aged 5, moved to Bolzano. He is married to Renata Kettmeir with two daughters and four grandchildren.
